Hi there, I'm Paula and nice to meet you!
I'm the author of Everybody Loves Football/ Everybody Loves Soccer, Nico's mum, a huge football lover, and a primary school teacher who's been living in Madrid for the past 8 years.
I'd always dreamt of publishing a book, so last summer I self-published my first children's book on Amazon called Everybody Loves Football, and shortly after, my book had already been sold in more than 20 countries!
My son, Nico has always loved football and the endless ways to enjoy this incredible sport from a very young age, and almost everything we do here in Madrid involves a lot of football.
Nico collects loads of football stickers and trading cards, he goes to stadiums to enjoy a match whenever he gets the chance, at Christmas and on his birthday he only wants to get football gifts, and he was even spotted on a huge stadium screen in Paris in the 2022 Champions League final, when he was watching Real Madrid vs Liverpool, and he loved his 5 seconds of fame.
As mother and a teacher, I missed having a book that featured the many different ways of enjoying football, because football goes far beyond just kicking a ball around, so the whole book was basically based on our personal experiences, and I made sure to create an inclusive book where all children could identify themselves on some pages o
As mother and a teacher, I missed having a book that featured the many different ways of enjoying football, because football goes far beyond just kicking a ball around, so the whole book was basically based on our personal experiences, and I made sure to create an inclusive book where all children could identify themselves on some pages of my book, and and also discover new ways to enjoy football too.
And that's pretty much how my book came about. We got inspired by our past experiences to create an inclusive book with vibrant illustrations that'd will keep everyone engaged, and many kids will identify with the book's characters as they're quite realistic: they wear glasses, braces, they're from different backgrounds and lots more.
Those gorgeous illustrations on my book were created by Diogo Ladeira who's been a professional illustrator for ages, and lives on the mountains of Minas Gerais in Brazil.
We met on Instagram, and together we created the whole book through lots of emails and text messages as we lived in different countries, and everything turned out really well.
We wanted to make this book as realistic and inclusive as possible, and that's why we'e chosen our cute characters with a mixed ethnicity background.
Diogo was a superstar and really patient with me and my ideas. He did an amazing job, and my book turned out exactly the way I wanted which is fantastic!
